Coaching with Purpose
You chose this work because it matters. And the people you serve deserve a leader who shows up fully for them.
At Harrington Insights, that is exactly who I work with — mission-driven leaders in nonprofits, higher education, and small business who are ready to lead with more clarity, confidence, and impact.
Meet Kim D. Harrington, Ph.D.,SHRM-SCP
Kim D. Harrington, PhD, SHRM-SCP, is an executive coach, leadership consultant, educator, and the founder of Harrington Insights LLC — a boutique coaching practice based in metro Atlanta, Georgia, serving mission-driven leaders in higher education , small businesses and non-profit organizations.
Her career at Georgia Institute of Technology spanned more than two decades and reflects a leader who moved consistently — and intentionally — toward purpose. She served as Director of the Student Center, championing the $100 million John Lewis Student Center project and leading a team of 45 staff and 100 student employees. She then served as Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer (2015–2022), overseeing HR for all 15,000 employees and leading the institution through one of its most significant operational transformations. She followed that as Chief of Staff to the Executive Vice President for Administration and Finance — and then made a deliberate move, driven entirely by values, to Student Engagement and Well-Being where she was given an amazing opportunity to lead the division of Arts, Belonging, and Community, dedicated to fostering belonging, creative expression, and inclusive community for all Georgia Tech students.
Before Georgia Tech, Dr. Harrington built her foundation across student affairs, admissions, residence life, the college union at Georgia State University, the University at Buffalo, and Fredonia State University — a breadth of experience that gives her an unusually complete understanding of how institutions work and how people thrive within them.
Her leadership has been honored with the University System of Georgia Chancellor's Gold Service Excellence Leadership Award, the Georgia Tech Black Alumni Organization Staff Award (2024), the Georgia Tech Graduate Student Government recognized her as a Friend of the Graduate Student in 2013 and again in 2025.
Dr. Harrington holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Georgia State University, a Master of Education in College Counseling and Student Personnel from the University at Buffalo, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Fredonia State University. She holds the SHRM-SCP designation and completed Executive Education in Design Thinking at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. She continues to serve as an adjunct professor in higher education and policy studies.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, Kim now lives just west of Atlanta. Her coaching is warm, direct, and built entirely around you. Most of her clients find her through someone they trust — because that is the kind of practice she has built, and the kind of leader she has always been.
